Join Annabeth as she translates the Sartan rune language, learns to use the Sartan rune magic, and pry answers out of a mysterious, quiet man with a dog.

Based on Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's series of novels called the Death Gate Cycle, I have made my own little fanfic. It is after several years, almost a decade after the mighty warrior Haplo fell to the Head Councillor, Samah. The Lord of the Nexxus must find a new explorer who is loyal and whose strength is undoubted in both mind and body- a proper replacement for his lost Son. It is not easy... But a certain bloodline assures his trust and control. Over the many years since Haplo's work has ceased, many other Sartan have fled to each of the four worlds. Including the Sartan, Alfred. It is heard that Alfred now has descendants... A family. A weakness. Long ago he and Haplo had traveled together... Perhaps he would be of some use still if he was.. persuaded in the correct direction. The Lord of the Nexxus's first mission for his young new explorer is to find the Sartan and to return him to the Nexus, alive.
