As a modern economic depression crumbles the foundation of the United States citizens are faced with the bleakest of realities. Woodson James, an educated, savvy opportunist acknowledges the circumstances surrounding him and begins utilizing the benefits of crime in an effort to survive. As he dispels guilt by arguing he cannot control the world around him the corrupt nature of his lifestyle begins to eat away at his conscience and deteriorate his relationships, specifically between himself and his blind father, his wife and his children.
