All is not what it seems in this tale of Viking/Anglo-Saxon lust and love... I wrote this story after being inspired by a photo of a young woman in Viking dress using a spindle. I wondered what it would like to be her. Here's the result. I hope you enjoy it!

A book of short stories of a city called Cear Daun. These stories will be about the life of Athelgar son of Athelrad with his tales mixed in. The book will be formatted in both Modern and Old English. This is a personal project and fiction piece as it is my work.

With the taste of blood and dirt in her mouth, Lydia began the fight for her life. She began kicking and screaming all while being dragged backwards toward the Devil's Hollow tree. Nails digging into the ground she tried to crawl while she was being pulled backwards on her stomach. Lydia's nails began breaking and ripping off, she cried out in pain. Her unknown attacker grabbed Lydia by the throat, picked her up into the air, and smashed her into the Devil's Hollow tree. Her breath caught in her chest, she began gasping for air, stars danced in her blackened vision, and loud bells rang assaulting her hearing. The hand around her throat tightened, denying Lydia the chance to catch her breath. Maniacal laughing sounded in the air around them. Lydia could not believe it, her attacker was laughing, she was dying and her attacker was laughing. Lydia is trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, can she win or has her time ran out?

The king took her in all those years ago, she owed him.

The land of Britain has never been one simple to rule, for thousands of years kingdoms fought for dominance between each other but when the Roman's came in, after a few tries, they dominated the centre of the country, from the south coast to the northern border of Hadrian's wall. This land, is Esma's history her ancestors battled to stake their claim and now it was her turn to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of her people, she's used to being independant, but that was before the Roman came to claim his Rose.

989 AD. Saxon King Æthelræd is unsteady on his throne, faced with the increasing threat of Danish invasion into England. Villages are ravaged by both armies. In the Danelaw region of England, a young Norse healer named Helga cares for children orphaned by war; and when one begins to show signs of magical abilities, Helga - herself one of the most gifted witches in the Danelaw - realizes that if enough magical children are left with no parents to teach them, then the use of magic might die out in England forever. Helga thus resolves to collect the orphaned witches and wizards of war-torn England and take them somewhere to be educated in safety and secrecy. To accomplish this, she seeks out the aid of Goderic, a Saxon wizard in the king's household, to bridge the cultural gap. They enlist the Welsh druidess Rhonwen, who uses her scrying glass to locate all of the magical children on the island. And together the three trek north to the Highlands, where they approach the reclusive Basque wizard Salazar with a proposition - to turn the ruined Roman fort on his land into the center of England's magical education. The story of the Founders, placed in the most accurate historical and cultural context possible.
