Technoblade Minecraft is the only eighth-grader who has no friends and likes it. The closest thing to a friend he has ever had is probably his twin brother Wilbur. His teachers announce a mandatory field trip to New York City that will force him to mentor a fourth-grader, and he hates it. Kids always hate him, and he hates them back. When the kid he's supposed to mentor seems determined to befriend him, he wonders if going through the trouble of getting excused from the trip is worth it. The kid isn't scared of him, so maybe things will be fine? Although, he does seem to be hiding something . . .

With the death of mother and now of their brother. Their father, Phil is taken over by grief which leads to addiction. So Tommy and Wilbur are left to raise themselves.
