Bella never asked to be part of an experiment. Locked inside a secret lab during a zombie outbreak, she's known only as Experiment B-11. The scientists poke her with needles, watch her through glass, and whisper about "results" and "side effects" like she's not even human. She tells herself it's fine, that the lab is safe, that the monsters are all outside. Then the screaming starts. Alarms go off. Red lights flash. Something crashes in the hallway, heavy and uneven, like a body dragging across the floor. Bella hears people yelling, gunshots, and then... nothing. The silence is worse than the noise. She's trapped in her room, hugging her knees, shaking so hard her teeth won't stop chattering. The air smells like blood and chemicals, and it makes her want to throw up. Every bang on the door, every scrape on the walls, makes her heart jump into her throat. She can picture zombies just outside, their broken hands reaching, their dead eyes searching for her. Bella is terrified. She's horrified by the way the lab has fallen apart in minutes, by the dark stains on the floor, by the thought of what's happening on the other side of the door. But the worst part isn't just the zombies. It's the experiment. The scientists injected her with something they said would "help the world." They said the virus wouldn't spread to her. They said she was safe. They lied. Now Bella feels strange, hot and cold at the same time, her skin crawling from the inside. Her vision blurs around the edges, and every sound feels too loud. She doesn't know if she's going to turn into one of them, or if she's becoming something even worse.
Stuck in a lab full of zombies, scared out of her mind, Bella has to face a horrible truth. The real monster might be waking up inside her.
