Mandy Halder had everything figured out: a job (that she hated), a promising career path (can you call academia promising?), and a boyfriend (who "just wants different things" now, apparently). So maybe she never had everything figured out, but she did have stability and a steady income, and what more could a twenty-something ask for?
After Mandy is unceremoniously fired and left without funding to continue her graduate program, she's left without a plan--possibly for the first time ever. And after her live-in boyfriend makes it clear that he now expects them to move back to his hometown, Mandy realizes that the only place she can go is home. Soon, Mandy finds herself participating in a city-wide scavenger hunt for a hidden rock, surprising herself as she finds more ghosts, old flames, and memories than she ever could have expected--or hoped for.
Set against the wild natural beauty of the Las Vegas desert, Rock Bottom reminds us that sometimes not knowing is the best thing to rejoice in, and that sometimes going back is the only way forward.
