"Tears Shadowed by A Smile" tells the story of Marie-Charlotte. The young girl has a harsh, painful past behind her, which leaves behind invisible, mental scars. These scars of the past are not visible to everyone, and on the surface Marie-Charlotte appears to be a strong young woman, but deep down there is something else hidden. Her scars resurface several years after the death of her life teacher. However, those long-hidden tears, which Marie-Charlotte has tried to suppress with all her might, yearn to come to light, to interfere with her adult life. Every day, the girl fights the demons of her past, the tears she has managed to hide behind a smile. One day Marie-Charlotte meets with a young man. On the surface, they think nothing of each other until something happens that connects them. Will Marie-Charlotte be able to open up to the new man and show her scars? Can the young man see through the girl's smile and get her out of the hole? Will Marie-Charlotte ever be able to free herself from the shadows of her past? Will she ever be able to smile without shedding tears?
