It's the year 2173. A random dude named Dave Phillips had made a remarkable discovery almost two hundred years prior, leaving the world very different. A company standing tall in the city? Check (uh, duh, everyone has a building in the city). Ability to twist, manipulate and switch the weather around? Check (okay that's a little weird). A portal leading to a parallel universe? Check (uh . . . ?). A lobby full of possible clients? Check (huh? That ain't no science fiction). Only one name for a place like that: Dave's Seasonal Weather Anomalies. ~*~*~*~ Please note that this was written for a sci-fi competition (Massive Dynamic to be specific) so that's why it's really short. Still, all votes and comments are much appreciated.

I was starving. I scavenged the abandoned gadgets in the dark alleyway, hoping to find something to eat. Not ravenously, though. The native Alpha Centauries would find me then. I was sixteen, and the last human colonist. They had come for us two months before, with arsenic gas and radium bullets. I didn't know how I survived, but now I was lost in their capital. I was desperately searching the piles when I heard the footsteps behind me. I turned around, and saw her. Green skin, I thought. Blonde. Long neck…    Native. I froze, staring at her. Then I saw her hyperpouch necklace, and stared at it. Hyperpouches. Food carriers. Food. She slowly walked up to me and knelt down. She looked at me. I saw in her eyes that she was as scared as I was. She must have seen my fear, too, because she dropped the hyperpouch in front of me and tapped it. The pouch’s opening widened. I immediately grabbed it and reached in, pulling out a sweet-smelling, reddish pastry. Centauri bread. I jammed the loaf into my mouth, closing my eyes. When I opened them, the native was gone. “Thank you,” I whispered into the silence.

Life on a spacestation is monotonous to say the least. When you work 5 days a week for a pittance with less than half a chance to move up in the world, and the girl you like works in the red district... Jade Godwill is miserable but content. The one place he can let loose is the Old World History complex that, ironically, only androids seem to care about. When servant mech droids begin turning on their masters and killing, the answer lies in this place. And surprise, surprise only Jade can find it. This was written for Project Constellations, but I didn't finish it on time. My first ever proper story (let alone SCI-FI) that I promise will be updated...

Traston has a theory about the world that no one is ready to accept. Seven years ago, the world of Revere was all but destroyed by a mysterious apocalypse that left its surface decimated and teeming with monsters. The few who survived were gifted with extraordinary abilities, seemingly designed so that they might contest with their new, harrowing home. COVER BY: Heather Moores NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: This is an old trunk novel of mine where I intended to explore the nature of salvation and what constituted the ability of one to live a good life despite the vices of the world around them. Given the current state of the world (especially through 2020), I have decided to post some of the chapters from this book. I feel as though it may help some readers find light in the darkness, though be warned, as the darkness of new Revere is thick and palpable.

Ten years ago, the human race decided it would be a good idea to enhance ourselves in order to become stronger. they started by enhancing our food. they plants turned strange colors and grew anywhere. it was a good thing at first, because it decreased the amount of poverty. but then we started modifying animals. they started with the livestock, but soon almost all animals were changed. but still, it seemed like it could be a good idea. it wasn't. the animals began to become increasingly aggressive. attacking humans left and right, they became a huge threat to mankind. and then it started. people who survived an attack from the freshly modified animals became monsters. flesh eating creatures whose forms were twisted and mutilated by constant fighting and aggression. they began to attack other humans. killing twice as many as the animals did until there were hardly any of us left to eat. My name is tailor. i have no last name as i have no parents. i have been stuck in these woods for nearly a year. i was with a group but now thy are dead. if they find me, i will soon be dead as well. please. if there's anyone left. i need help. help me. please.
