That is the question. It's your choice, to live while you're alive. Or it's the end of the world as we know it. *** A big thank you to my husband, my mom, my sisters and my friends who read the story prior to publication to share their interpretation of the story's message.

Halloween just got a whole lot scarier. On the night of Halloween, an accident in the local Power Plant releases waves of radiation into the surrounding town of Sagemont, Oregon. Minutes after the accident, the town is overrun by zombies. The mutated mindless shells of their former self. Those who are somehow immune to the radiation become something else. They develop unnatural abilities that defy the laws of nature. There's another problem. Sagemont is a small town in the forest 30 miles from any other civilization and the accident left the town powerless. Meaning there's no one coming to help and they can't warn them of the impending zombie apocalypse. One town...Tens of miles away from civilization...A zombie apocalypse...No way out. So much for trick-or-treating.

America was faced with its next greatest problem: Overpopulation. With the advancement of technology and an adopted loss of morals, a new law was initiated, forcing population control: The Under Population Act-- We now live in a world where, at age two, every child is injected with a virus, and refusal of treatment will result in immediate termination of the toddler. It was inevitable, but it was all for the sake of making America great again. SciKick's (@SciKick) Halloween Contest Theme: Zombie Apocalypse Word Limit: 500 The biggest challenge was condensing everything to 500 words without deleting details of the story! This is my second contest, and I've learned that I love being given writing prompts. Enjoy!
