She read the New York Times post fearfully.
"The small town in Indiana was burnt to flames. The cause remains unknown. Some survivors of the incident reported a sudden, loud noise, which they had described as a "Boom." Many claim this was from a private property, Hawkins National Lab (HNL), which was described by student Greg McCorkle as a place where "A lot of crazy shit was rumored to happen. I don't know, though. None of us ever went [there]." The student recalls one instance he believes to be related, "There was one time where a guy brought a blonde girl, Eleanor, and she made Troy [Walsh] pee his pants. He and James [Dante] came back with a bunch of broken bones a few days later. Apparently, that girl did it.""
She laughed a bit as she thought back to being Mike's cousin. That, although scary, had been fun. She continued to read through the article, "A few hundred people lost their lives in this fire, initiated at this same property. Another survivor, Greta Layves, claims that the property was "Full of crazy people," later claiming that the explosion was "Likely intentional. Like some sort of experimental test, to see how far they could go.""
It made her happy to her friend, Will, had refused to comment. It was all her fault. Her fault that Will risked his life. Her fault that Lucas died. Her fault that Max was depressed. Her fault that Mike has a burn mark on his back. Her fault that Dustin might be stuck in the upside down.
But Papa wouldn't say it was her fault. He'd praise her. He'd praise his favorite puppet, number 011.
