But Mary has no wish to accept her fate: to be courted by the rakish Mr. Wickham, then disappearing from the story. When a mysterious man in a navy uniform appears, Mary King begins to hope that she might be able to change the fates of herself and all her friends. This story explores what happens when minor characters demand visibility, when love becomes a form of rebellion, and when narrative control is challenged. It's bold, original, and rich with ensemble dynamics.
