This is a little story following 'to love her.' It's about Minerva and Bella's holiday with Minerva's family. You don't have to read 'to love her' in order to read this, it can act as a stand alone piece, though I'd be very grateful if you were to read 'To love her' 😁

So I have a lot of ideas, but since most of them are a) short and b) unfinished, I don't really want to publish them as full stories yet. So! This is a collection of ideas, short stories and things that i never finished. You don't have to read in order AT ALL, each chapter is a new idea.

My mother Paulina was born in Montreal in April of 1936 and died - her lungs full of pneumonia - not long after her 82nd birthday in May 2018 in a small town hospital in Exeter, Ontario. The following, a collection of short 100-word stories, poems, letters and photos, is me trying to process her death, and explore her life and our relationship. What's in it for you, good reader? Did Paulina lead a fascinating life? On the surface, probably not. But underneath? Tragic deaths. Foster homes. Young love. Poverty. Adultery. Bigamy. Re-invention. Perseverance. Passion. Imagination. Hoarding and lots of shopping. There will be lots and lots and lots of shopping.

Patricia is trying. That's it. She's just trying, at everything, all the time. Trying to succeed at schoolwork despite being pretty average, intelligence-wise. Trying to maintain her friendships despite always being busy. Trying to keep the flat neat, since her dad's always working and her mum's busy with a million and one other things. Trying to make time to see a boyfriend who, what with all the other things she has to do, is quite frankly barely on her radar at this point. And especially trying to learn to love the little sister always foisted on her- trying to love her unconditionally, without imagining if she was different, or, more to the point, not different at all. Rosemary is muddling through life as best she can- which is not terribly well. Schoolwork isn't a problem, as none of her teachers have ever expected any kind of academic output from her. Friendships are difficult, because no matter how much she tries she can't seem to form any. Her one (self-assigned) chore is to keep all of her toys neat, clean, and orderly. Her biggest problem is family- she always finds herself struggling to please but not quite sure how to. Neither Rosemary nor Patricia are a big fan of change. But change is inevitable, and when Rosemary is sent away from home for a week, their dynamic shifts. Patricia is no longer the centre of Rosemary's universe, and Patricia is no longer willing to sacrifice her life for her sister's sake. But as Patricia loses her sister's trust, and Rosemary seems to get more wildly out of control, they have to decide what in their lives they hold dearest. Is Patricia ready to make a choice between her carefully cultivated image and her beloved nightmare of a sister? Is Rosemary able to avoid choosing between her family and the only person who she's ever understood?

In the year 2101, America is off the maps. Cut off from the rest of the world, the surviving citizens are left with nothing but bomb destroyed land and a monthly supply of food and water from Canada. To add to their problems, the citizens can't remember their pasts because of the gases released from the bombs, only their names. When 14 year old Oliver Gryson finds a scrapbook with pictures of a girl, he can't help but feel she was a part of his life before The Isolation.

The last words Hannah's boyfriend said to her before she moved across the country were, "See you soon." All she could do to keep herself from crying was to give him a kiss on his cheek.
