No one was worried about the Unimaginable Evil. Everyone knew how it worked. The Good Prophet would make a Great Prophecy and name a Grand Champion before passing on. The Champion would go on the Journey to find some other relic or treasure with a capital letter. There would be a duel, or a battle, or even a war if the Evil was feeling particularly, well, evil. Then the Champion would smite, banish, or otherwise rid the world of the Evil and everyone would be on their merry way. No one was worried about the 27th rise of the Unimaginable Evil.
So it was unfortunate that Stick, the 27th Champion, wasn't, in fact, the hero of the Prophecy. Stick wasn't chosen by the Prophet before he died. he wasn't prepared for a Journey, he didn't know where the Relic was, and the Evil terrified him beyond belief. Things were not going very merry and everyone should've been worried about the 27th rise of the Unimaginable Evil.
