Ness Singer is about to lose everything that she had counted on for most of her life. She lost her job in the last book, when the demons had come to take her to Crowley. Castiel has let leviathans into this world. They eat their way out of him and are loose, on the prowl for Sam, Dean, Ness and Bobby. They burn down Bobby's house, Ness' former home. They burn down Dean and Ness' apartment for over a year. And the leviathans take away Ness' father, Bobby. Ness is in denial, grief, even a little anger. She's changing, and she wants revenge. Heartbreak and anger, betrayal and revenge. Can Ness get it all, or will she die trying?

What would you do if everything you used to know and love fell apart right before your eyes? Thrown into a new reality you didn't know nor wished to. Sounds like a nightmare right? Well, lucky me. This is my reality. I get to live in constant fear and anxiety for those I wish to protect. I get to deal with having new abilities that only tie me down, dragging me further until I can no longer breath. Could I ever learn to control my new and foreign power? Could I ever run at this new change with open arms? Could I ever even gain enough strength to carry on? All I know is I've learned how to lie. I've learned how to love, and know how to cry. That evil vampire Julian has gone to the town of Sullenberry. Stefan needs to head there, with Valerie not too far behind. Damon promised to come along with Stefan and make sure everything would be taken care of. Damon has left me here, his beautiful Elena home.
