Everyone in Blackwood believed the Carter House was haunted. At sixteen, runaway Jody doesn't believe in ghosts. An abandoned house with a roof over her head is all she needs. But when she discovers a series of letters hidden inside the walls, she becomes obsessed with the mysterious death of Evelyn Carter-a woman the town insists was murdered years ago. With three suspects, a house full of secrets, and a truth no one wants uncovered, Jody soon realizes the most dangerous thing in Blackwood isn't a ghost. It's the stories people choose to believe.
