Homeless, living on the streets of New York, Emma won't let her unfortunate circumstances get her down. When she meets Julia, a volunteer at the soup kitchen, Emma's life takes a turn for the better, but her son, Jack, wants nothing to do with her. When she falls into the rhythm of a comfortable life, going back to being homeless can't be an option, but Jack keeps getting in her way of happiness.
Tragedy shaped Jack's belief that homeless people are nothing but drug addicts and alcoholics. He adamantly protests when his mother invites Emma to share in their Thanksgiving dinner, but Emma is not what he expected. Jack is forced to reflect on his past and come to grips with the fact that his anger colors his view.
Charlie is an angel set to earth to grant two Christmas wishes, an easy task, or so he thought; that was before he met Emma and Jack.
Will Jack's perception of the homeless change his opinion of Emma and open his heart? Or will memories and guilt hold him back?
