It was 3:45 in the morning of the 20th of July. I stayed frozen curled up in bed trying not to think about the memory-in-a-dream I just had. Or about him. I miss him. Missed everything about him. Missed that carved wooden box full of letters from him that I flung into the bonfire Dad built last year for Bonfire Night in an attempt to forget about him. He was so, so, so, so, so far away. What's the definition of a crush? An intense but brief infatuation for someone. Was this a crush? For this long? Isn't it supposed to be over? It's been ten years... Huh, haha. It's called obsession. Isn't it?

Dear Reader, In this book you will read poetry by yours truly . I am an African-American girl, who just so happens to write poetry. If you love poetry just as much as I do then I hope you love this book. As a fair warning, some of these poems may be depressing, scary, weird, or even unbelievably true. However, I do not apologize for anything I say in these poems. Last time I checked, there are no rules in the world of poetry (unless you are writing in a specific form/ type) . I'm glad you decided to choose this book. Poetry isn't the easiest thing accomplish in english nor, is it the hardest. Read to the end I do hope you like this book.
