A billion gazillion years ago humans were kemonomimi's (humanoid characters who commonly have animal features) But after much evolution, they disappeared over time. Still In modern day there are some people who remain, though very rare. Scientists never found out why this occurred many years ago because at the time they didn't have the right resources to find out. Most thought it came from the "Gods". Now we have Nagi. Who is Nagi? What you should be asking is "What". Nagi is nothing. Nagi can be what he wants to be... and what does Nagi want to be? Normal I guess. Where did Nagi come from? Of course a loving family!
