I had always talked while looking in the mirror as if I was being recorded. I would do it while I brushed my teeth, while I did my makeup, while I did everything... and I would pretend I was telling people in the videos things that were going on in the world. Even though I thought I was talking to myself, I wasn't. I was being recorded. I was being watched. And... the things I was telling people about my world were actually going to save theirs. They were my secret audience.

She reached two shaking hands, covered in blood and bruises, up and pushed the skin near her cracked and bloody lips up until it looked like she was smiling.
