Hello everyone! This is my Johnny Cade x y/n fanfiction. Just a little heads up, this story doesn't take place during the time that The Outsiders does. It's kind of like an AU where Johnny and Dally didn't die, but all the other events happened. We'll say this is like, 6 months after. Also, I know that S. E. Hinton wrote a few books that take place after and have Outsiders characters in them, but I haven't read those in a hot minute so this won't be consistent with those books. Sorry! I hope you enjoy!

Dallas Winston is, in short, a don't give a flying crap type guy. He's pretty picky on who he puts his time into so unless you're really hot or in his gang chances are you won't catch his eye. Katie was none of those things. She wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, a gang leader or member, she was, in a word average. She was actually rather shocked that she caught //anyone's// attention. After all, she rarely went outside and when she did it's not like she was spotted immediately. Dallas, also known as Dal or Dally, liked being out, in fact, he got anxious when he was kept in one place for too long. ew i'm terrible at this. just read the goddang story.

Ponyboy had just lost his brother Sodapop. He died in Vietnam. It was hard enough that Ponyboy has already been grieving for Johnny, Dally, and his parents for years now. But the death of his brother had broken him. Ponyboy reminisces one day of the good times they would have in the summer and how empty Ponyboy feels with those he loves no longer there.
