During Lucy Gray's time in the Capitol, she began to feel things towards Sejanus. However, after surviving the perils of the games and returning to District 12, Lucy Gray cannot help but think about what could have happened with her and Sejanus under different circumstances. However, Sejanus is dispatched to District 12 as a Peacekeeper after his meltdown that led him to sneak into the arena during the games. After Lucy Gray's death silenced the entire District, Coriolanus, in dire need of a distraction, turns to baby-sitting Sejanus, his best friend, and making sure he doesn't get into any trouble. However, it turns out that he has already done the damage and Coriolanus discovers that he is going to be arrested. With no where else to turn, the pair leaves their fate to the untaimed wilderness of the forrest's surrounding the District.

Sejanus can see Lucy Grey and Coryo, the whispers and kisses. Their relationship is fragile, and it's quick to catch fire. Sejanus refuses to watch his best friend burn.
