Seven years ago, Mafia Don Antonio Duarte's wife left their home in Italy with their baby daughter, leaving Antonio alone with his four sons. Antonio was heartbroken to lose his baby daughter and spared no expense in trying to find his ex-wife and his baby girl. Anastasia has grown up with her mother and her mother's husband, Gerald. She's been the victim of their abuse for as long as she can remember and doesn't understand why her Mommy would make her come and live with this man. But her Mommy also says that Ana's daddy doesn't love her. Because she's a girl. Because he is an evil and dangerous man. Ana hasn't spoken a word since meeting and moving in with Mommy's new husband when she was three years old. Gerald doesn't want to hear from her at all, so she doesn't speak. Anywhere. To anyone. Ana just hopes to make it through each day. When a social worker and two police officers come to collect Ana from school, she learns that both her mommy and Gerald have been killed. Across the ocean, Antonio Duarte learns of the death of his ex-wife at the hands of his associates. He learns that his baby daughter is in the care of Social Services until a more permanent solution can be found. Antonio is going to get his daughter back. However, he has no idea how broken his daughter is. His sons don't know how to treat or communicate with their baby sister when she returns home. And poor Ana doesn't know who she can trust anymore.

Iris Reed is starting her last year in high school. She just wants it to go by as quickly as possible and be invisible to everyone else. She wants to start a new life far away from her small town in North Carolina and try to be a completely different person. Her plans are interrupted by huge problems in her life that she just can't get through on her own. It doesn't help that she has selective mutism. With the help of her best friend Baylor and a new boy named Caden her goals might just change. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is my first story on here. I'm very excited to see how it goes. This story is mainly around Iris dealing with her selective mutism. I wanted to write a story about selective mutism because it is something I go through and it is very real to me and hard to deal with. Thank you to anyone who reads this.

The story of a lonely girl and an even lonelier, depressed boy and how their lives entwine. Trigger Warning ~~~~~~~ "Um... Are you okay? You look lonely." I said, finally addressing him. He shook his head, opening his mouth as if to say something before closing it sadly. Then, he pulled a notebook out of his bag, in which he started scrawling with a biro. On the page he showed me, it said: "You can sit here but I'm not going to talk to you. Sorry." I frowned, trying to work out this strange boy. Eventually, I shrugged and sat next to him anyway. "So, what's your name?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Based on a true story.

Clay Sabbagh, aka Ghost Kid, used to be one of the most popular kids at Morrison High. When tragic events occur on the night of his last day of Junior year, Clay is lost in a war between himself and the people in his life. Although Clay has lost all trust in others, will the girl his mom signs up for him as a tutor be able to turn his perspective of life around? (I know the summary is cheesy...) THIS STORY IS A WORK IN PROGRESS! I will ALWAYS accept any feedback. Also, this isn't a ROMANCE genre. There will definitely be 'romance fluff' but it isn't the main focus of the story. Thanks Much! Updates every 1st of the month and third Friday.

Selective mutism isn't something that's fake or made up. It's a real thing that not many people know about. I never knew until I was told I had it. This is going to have some experiences I have had, and maybe or poem or two. But just renember this, someone may look just shy, but it isn't always just shy. Selective mutism is a real anxiety disorder that needs to be understood.

June has never been one to open up. But a series of letters has her pouring her feelings out to a stranger. The journey of healing is often more satisfying than the destination. This story deals with anxiety disorders and selective mutism. This is something I've struggled with since I was a small child and this story is loosely based around my life and experiences. Hopefully this gives some insight into what it's like to not be able to speak or go somewhere without fear. It took me a very long time to find my voice, but the journey was freeing. - Amanda
