Scandalous gossip about the death of Claudie Beary, the Lily they're vying to replace, doesn't dishearten them. Zipporah's social status makes her susceptible to their disparagement. Her presence in the Trials has also garnered her Perley's cold shoulder. Except Zipporah owns one bestowed spritz of perfume from her oldest friend, a former Lily. The perfume makes itself into an indispensable fragrance, enough to win the Lily Trials. But no amount of perfume can mask her predecessor's loveliness. Zipporah fails to exceed Claudie in every way. As Claudie's assailant remains at large, Zipporah puts her life in peril when she uncovers incriminating letters between Claudie and her paramour. The story of Cyrulius.

Stories that have been derived and illustrated by the inspiration of continuous prompt exercises that I use for extra inspo, with real stories that are in the works!

The novel started as a short story that was submitted to a writing contest (didn't win). It is very loosely based upon the Babylon 5 Universe (telepaths, shadows, plethora of different races, etc.). I still continued to think about the story and how it ended without a final resolution (though the story did have an ending, it left a lot of questions about the protagonist). Thanks to the obsession and compulsion I have with writing (it's a blessing and a curse) I decided to continue the story to final resolution. This is it. A race called the Chitoxan came from an unknown area of space and declared war on the races making up the Earth-Alliance. More technically advanced than the races they encounter, the overwhelming power of the shadow vessels results in most battles ending in complete defeat for the Earth-Alliance. Only by massing fire on an individual shadow vessel or, in extremely desperate situations, committing suicide with a ship's reactor overload, can a shadow vessel be defeated. Earth and Earth-alliance colonies are slowly being conquered and occupied by Chitoxa. The humans on these occupied colonies are enslaved and forced to serve the Chitoxan's every need. A young man volunteers for the Space Marines during the Chitoxan war. Upon induction, he discovers that he is 'blessed' with unique abilities. However, these abilities cause his life to be changed drastically and terribly. He is taken away and forced into a never-ending nightmare. After a quick and violent encounter between Earth and Chitoxa, another Earth fleet is beaten and is almost wiped out. The surviving ship gets a lucky shot at an attacking shadow vessel, slicing off one of its appendages. The pain and shock of the loss does something to the human controller of the battle crab....

Why does mass protest continually fail to fundamentally change the direction of the modern world? Maybe if we were as large as International Corporations... Protest passes, but Power is permanent. It is our form of social organisation that is failing us. Across the generations, attempts to undo injustice, poverty and inequality are continually thwarted as the problems re-appear. As the generations pass, the progress is undone, from Martin Luther King to Black Lives Matter, from the Great Depression to the Credit Crunch, from Spanish Flu to the Coronavirus. Life must be a road, not a roundabout. There is an ancient and universal value that can provide the means to assure permanent progress. It is contained in the social history of people before property. Before official time there exists an other nature. There is something other that is native to us. We may alter native. The solution proposed here has always been in existence, hiding in plain sight. It is new in that it is not currently practiced. It is ancient in that it existed everywhere. It has been buried for a reason. It is a proposal for continuation versus extinction. Word of an Other Nature will be published soon. I will post preview extracts here.

She lives in a grand wooden manor among her maids and close confidants, Vivi and Jess. They serve as her "sword and shield", protecting her from the unrelenting outside world which wishes nothing but death upon the Beaumont family which first popularized the mass production of sentient AI. With the introduction of AI the majority of the world has plummeted into mass poverty as their jobs were replaced and the future seems bleak for most. But as a robot herself, Jess doesn't particularly care what happens to the human race. After all the only human that matters to her is Chloé, the girl who rescued her from being disposed of after a long life of abuse. Life at the manor has become increasingly difficult with riots and protests just outside their door. Not to mention Chloé seems to be growing sicker with each passing day. But when a mysterious scrappy girl from outside their great cyber city breaks into the manor with her robot, Jess realizes that this enigmatic pair might just be exactly what Jess needs to get Chloé back on her feet again.
