All hope seemed lost until a soldier was created. Quadrillions of nanites were in her body, making it so that she barely needed any of a humans normal necessities. They ate anything that entered her body (radiation, shrapnel, bullets, knives, etc.) and were sentient, naming themselves Cerberus. After almost obliterating the offending alliance, Soldier Eclipse was sucked up into a portal and teleported into the dimension of Naruto, where she would later become discovered by Team 7 of Konoha.
