Sentimentality Stories

Sentimental: sɛntɪˈmɛnt(ə)l adjective of or prompted by feelings of tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia. Sentimentality is a collection of poems and musings I have written throughout my life so far. These works focus on the raw emotions and nostalgic moments I have encountered, whether they be dark times (depression, anxiety, heartbreak. grief, melancholia) or good times focusing on (being in love, being happy and content or reminiscing). I know a lot of these are rough, raw and poorly written but I feel as though they bring character. Thank you for taking the time to read these works, it means more to me than you know. I hope to become a better writer and to share more of these inner workings of my mind with you in the near future.

As a child, l viewed the world through rose-tinted glasses. It was much easier to be happy and carefree. Now, as I see the evils of reality, I yearn for the days when I still had my innocent bliss.

A short story about a couple who were forbidden to marry but met again, many years later, for perhaps a second chance at love.

Sixteen-year old Dante Evadoni is a normal boy with a normal life - he's in eleventh grade, he has a fair few friends, he's not popular and he's quiet - and a problem that has followed him for two years: he's heels over head in love with a girl he can't seem to get over. Seventeen-year old Carolynn Quirox is in the same grade level as Dante, in the same circle of friends, although a bit apart from him. For two years, she has been avoiding Dante in an attempt to make him forget about her. She has never felt anything for Dante, believing that he isn't the one. Then, after some practices and one dance during a party, everything turns upside down. Just as Dante feels that his life has finally begun to go uphill, he is plagued by a memory that compels him to consider the way things are and how things should be. What happens when the past he needs to forget becomes the only way he can be happy? After that one party, Dante seems to be a different person in the eyes of Carolynn. She is confused at first, but the longer she tries to come to grips with her views of Dante, the more she realizes what she has been overlooking. How could someone she has known and avoided for two years seem to change in one evening? The two are forced apart, brought together, and both can't help wondering if they truly are meant to be without one another. Laden with dances, music, laughter, and heartbreak, 'Relapse' is the story of what happens when the first of feelings refuse to die out.

This portrays the sentiments I have over no longer being a child and how things have (obviously because they had to) change with my getting older and leaving behind my younger days.

This is all about a person who longed for someone that could make him happy. By the time that person arrived, he had the feeling he had never felt before. He want the person so bad that he don't want that person to go. Because of that person, his life turned out to be just as it is.

Looking back at old things can sometimes be a fun experience indeed.
