This is the story of how Severus Snape became a father without deciding to. Unlikely covers Harry's infancy through Year Two. It is a slow burn of the domestic kind: nappy changes and Potions labs and a castle that grows around two people who do not know they are building something until it is already built. It is also a story about institutional failure - what happens when a school is attacked from inside, when the adults see the danger and still cannot reach it in time, when doing everything right is not the same as winning. By the end of Year Two, Harry Potter has spoken to a snake in public, fought a basilisk in a flooded chamber, faced a piece of Voldemort's preserved soul, and asked Fawkes for help without knowing that was what he was doing. Severus Snape has spent twelve months watching a child he raised from infancy walk toward danger and held very, very still. Series tagline: Blood was never the magic that protected Harry. It was love. Ships (slow burn, not the focus of this book): Draco/Harry (Drarry), Severus/Remus (Snupin) Content notes: Canon-typical violence, child trauma (institutional, not abusive guardianship), possession/loss of autonomy, grief, medical content, animal harm. A fanfiction where Snape raises Harry Potter because Lily asked him to in a letter before she died. My version of Snape has a better personality throughout the series of stories. He has more logical thinking, maybe he's braver, and his love for Lily is portrayed more romantically. Harry excels compared to the original in nonverbal spells, wandless magic, and naturally in potions, since Snape teaches him personally. In my fanfiction, I focus on gradually developing the relationship between Harry and Snape, from initial dislike to a father-son bond.

Just a Severitus one-shot. DISCLAIMER: Alright, buckle in, 'cause this is gonna be a hell of a shocker but- I DON'T OWN HARRY POTTER. *gasp* No, but seriously, J.K. Rowling owns all the characters this is just the result of me being left alone with a laptop on a lonely autumn night, leaving my maladaptive daydreamer mind to wander and explore its vivid depths, bursting with imagi- no but srsly, J.K. gets all the credit. ~Excerpt~ 'He lay there, shaking, safely ensconced in Severus' arms, so completely awash in safety and love for the first time that it confused him to no end, only frustrating him more. Is this how it felt? To have someone love you? To hold you as you cried? He had never known this before, but now that he did, he couldn't say he had loved anything more than the warmth of this safe embrace that wrapped around him like a blanket on an exceptionally chilly night. Protecting him from the rest of the world, hiding him away. Just for a moment.'

Maybe trying to steal a potion from Snape was not a great idea... Harry urgently needed a dreamless sleep potion. Feeling desperate to escape the constant nightmares that have plagued him every night for the last few weeks, he visits the infirmary. Disappointment came swiftly when Madam Pomfrey told Harry there wasn't any left. The restock was only going to be delivered next week by Professor Snape. Madam Pomfrey advised Harry to directly ask Professor Snape for some. Harry did not want to face the man, especially to ask for something like dreamless sleep. There was only so many reasons one would want the potion and he was not willing to imply any of the possibilities to Snape. Next best idea? Steal the potion from Snape's stores. Harry had to admit, he did not think this one through. But perhaps everything would end better than expected.

Harry Potter has always been a Potter, but one day that all changes. In the summer before third year, as his hormonal changes began to kick in, Harry started to look a lot more like Snape. After losing his godfather, Sirius Black, this summer is bent out to be the most gloomy summer of his life- and its about to get even worse- Severus Snape and Harry Potter just might be more connected than they may know. A secret, woven into the past, leaps out at the most unlikely of times onto the most unlikely people. How will this secret rock Harry and Snape's world as well as the world around them? Will Harry be successful against the steadily powerful Voldemort? Only time will tell.

Something unexpected happens (and wasn't that expected) and Harry is struggling to find Voldemort. He needs to find him Why? Because he was pregnant with the man's child.
