If you guys don't want to read something uncomfortable, don't. This is a deeply personal story about childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, trauma, consent, and the consequences of a lack of sex education. I was only seven or eight when something happened to me that I didn't understand at the time. I knew I was scared. I knew something was wrong. But I didn't have the words to understand or explain it. Years later, I finally realized what had happened. This is not an easy story, but it's one I feel needs to be told. It's about what children don't know, what they should be taught, and how no child should ever have to depend on ignorance, fear, or luck to escape sexual violence. ⚠️ Content warning: childhood sexual abuse and trauma.
