Poem #1. Sexual Assault Awareness

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and I wanted to help spread the message across. Support SAAM to stop sexual abuse now.

These stories well this is my tell about my sexual assault experiences and some diary stories as well (EVERYTHING IS 100% TRUE, NOT MADR UP!!!)

We're all just dead. It's the sad truth. Whether you're really six feet deep or breathing in the unfresh air. Everyone deals with things. Things don't always go the way you want them to. You become depressed, anxious, scared. You don't know how to deal with these things. You hurt yourself to cope. Life almost never goes the way you want it to. Those whose lives do are lying or lucky. And those feelings of jealousy, anger, sadness, depression, regret, despair, disgust, they engulf you in a sea of negativity. Everyone has their own story. But you're not reading everyone's story, that would take too long. So instead, here's mine. This story contains: sexual assault, rape, depression, self-harm, drinking, smoking, drugs, abuse, child trafficking, murder, suicide, weapons, and cussing. All of this is for awareness purposes and not used to be an asshole towards anyone.

Dark and Link have always been good friends. They shared a dorm for a couple months, so they spent a lot of time together. Link preformed Drag and Dark was studying to get a PhD. Nicholas and his mom loraine had finally escaped his dad tom, who was abusive and had gotten arrested for assaulting people. It's been 5 years since that happened but now Andrea finally moved on and married to peter. Peter has a daughter of his own, Celine. His wife, her mother was admitted to the mental hospital 4 years ago. Neither Celine or Nicholas has ever lived with a sibling, so now they have to learn how to live together and overcome their trauma.

Benjamin Clark has been tattling on Natalie ever since she became rebellious in eighth grade. One night in their grade ten year, Natalie went out to a party and had a few drinks, which she wasn't supposed to. Ben told her mother as soon as he saw Natalie with the liquor in her hand, and she was grounded for what felt like an eternity. Ever since, Natalie has held a grudge against Benjamin, labelling him as a "rat". What happens when Ben saves Natalie from a drunken boy at their Senior Kick Off party? Will Natalie let go of her grudge, or will it take more than that for Ben to earn her trust again?

If you guys don't want to read something uncomfortable, don't. This is a deeply personal story about childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, trauma, consent, and the consequences of a lack of sex education. I was only seven or eight when something happened to me that I didn't understand at the time. I knew I was scared. I knew something was wrong. But I didn't have the words to understand or explain it. Years later, I finally realized what had happened. This is not an easy story, but it's one I feel needs to be told. It's about what children don't know, what they should be taught, and how no child should ever have to depend on ignorance, fear, or luck to escape sexual violence. ⚠️ Content warning: childhood sexual abuse and trauma.
