Jannis was in trouble. She was meant to be the one who could finally stand against the Kraken. But the Shadow Shifter Senate opposed him immediately. To them, Mayoi was too dangerous - too unstable, too powerful, and impossible to control. She was not a solution; she was a risk. A catastrophe waiting to happen. And as events unfolded, it quickly became clear that they might not have been wrong.
