Sasuke refers Uzumaki Naruto as the 'shadow hokage', meaning he does more than being Sasuke's right hand man. He protect the village from the outside. Due to his superhuman strength from Kurama and sage of six paths, Naruto choose to leave the village and travel around, at the same looking for possible threats that could endanger the leaf village and destroying them. Naruto protects the village from the shadows by going out and making sure in his travels that no potential threat will come to the village. Whereas if he's beaten, then Sasuke will be the defender of course from inside. Hello everyone. This is the sequel to your favourite fanfiction, 'The Reversed Roles.' If you haven't read that fanfiction, I'd suggest you go and read it first to understand why Naruto is the shadow hokage instead of Sasuke. Quick description:- After bringing Naruto back and marrying Sakura, Tsunade announced Sasuke as the 6th hokage of the leaf village. Naruto on the other hand, didn't stay in the village much because of his powers, which would attract power seekers and in turn endanger the village. This is the story of how Naruto protect the village from outside while Sasuke take care of the village from inside. So I guess this is kinda like Boruto reversed roles.
