"This basketball shit going take us far Ma, so all this lecturing is just in the way of me taking off faster." I complained as I brushed my hand down my fresh cut. I looked in the mirror glancing at myself knowing I had to make a choice soon. With 15 different offers from top D1 schools, it was dawning on me I had to start putting a wrap to a lot of my shit. Skipping down the steps I headed to the kitchen to grab a gatorade and some snacks before practice. I know ya'll probably assuming I'm just this spoiled ass athlete who got everything he wanted and it was true. I never had a hand me down, never had to ask for anything, and could never have an issue with the bitches. Aside from my godly ass looks, being 6'4 and playing for D.C.'s well known basketball team "Woodrow Wilson High School", this shit came naturally. My mom often got on my case about me acting just like my daddy but I ain't see the big deal. They met back in college when she was completing her residency at Howard University and he was the student athletic trainer on their Basketball Team. Obviously they hit it off well enough, for the both of them to welcome me at the end of their senior year. "Son, it doesn't hurt to at least listen to some of what your mother has to say. We only want the best for you once you graduate, it will be hard to visit you all the way in UCLA," he said as he came around the kitchen island. "Man I'll think about it." All this after graduation shit was knocking me off my focus for a little minute and I knew Coach S wouldn't like that one bit. Only thing, I look forwarded to these practices was seeing our fine ass student athletic trainer, Emerald. That girl had everything going on and she made me think about my future. I grabbed a banana and muffin along with my water bottle as I ran to catch the city bus. It was always crowded and smelt like pee so I made sure to say my goodbyes as I quickly locked the door and made my way to the bus stop.

Keene Gilgeous Alexander, younger brother of Shai Gilgeous Alexander. A basketball prodigy. A hooper. Somebody who could put the ball in the hoop at any time. Somebody who put their life and soul towards the game. Somebody who'd made their whole life's goal, to be able to play at the highest level in the NBA. Somebody whose faith in the game, made him neglect the other parts of life. He had always thought the game would keep him going. The game was his whole life after all, why wouldn't it? He thought game would take him wherever he wanted to be. What he didn't know was game would only take him so far. It would eventually pass him and everyone around him. How would he know? Hoops was life after all. Eventually the game starts to show its true colors. It can't protect you all the time. It's waiting for the opportunity to get past you, just like an offensive player. How will Keene react when faced with challenges in his personal life, in his basketball career, and in the public eye? Can he maintain his form, or will he crumble under pressure?
