So Mickey and Ian have been broken up roughly 4 years. Now Mickey has a daughter, Carmen who is one year old at the start of this story. Carmen is what was missing in their lives all along. Carmens mother is not a character in this story but she is very briefly mentioned. She is not the small and physically fragile child they remember. She doesn't even look her age as far as her body goes. She is still the sweet, polite, and innocent girl they alway know.
