Mortal kombat, an ancient tournament created by the elder gods to give the realms a chance against invasion, earthrealm has currently lost 9 tournaments, one more and the most dangerous realm, outworld, will take control and invade earth, to defend earth, Raiden, the God of thunder, summons earth's mightiest champions, which includes one person who you may not recognize, a deadly fighter by the name of malware.

En route to the planet Antarea, Cara (the third regeneration of Neas) and her teenage companion Toby are thrown off course and arrive in Outworld, one of many interconnected realms. After being mortally wounded in the aftermath of a skirmish, Cara regenerates into her next incarnation, "Margie", and is coerced into partaking in a fighting tournament known as "Mortal Kombat". From here, Margie solidifies her new position as an Earthrealm defender, alongside Toby and her mentor, Raiden, as well as other fighters - Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Kenshi. Their mission is to protect the realms from the forces of the powerful, deadly sorcerer, Shang Tsung, and his four-armed Shokan champion, Goro.

As the tournament approaches, many lives will be changed. Raiden knows Earthrealm must defeat Outworld. He gathers his finest warriors, but many of his allies will be discovered by chance. As Shang Tsung has tricked many others into coming to his island. If they do not win, Raiden knows Shao Kahn will destroy Earth. An unlikely challenger and a monstrous champion meet in a fight to the death. The outcome will surely shake the very foundation of history. The fate of more worlds than one lie in the balance. Will Earthrealm prevail? Or will Shao Kahn finally conquer it?

mk is kinda my childhood, first found out abt it when i was six and i was terrified of mileena (when i got a ps3 years later, i found out it was mk9 when i played story mode). ive only played mk9, mk11, and mk1 as of current top five characters are johnny, kenshi, sub-zero, scorpion, and smoke (for playstyle)

Realizing the battle is lost, Raiden gathers up the shattered pieces of his medallion and sends a cryptic message to his past self, including the words "He must win", moments before Shao Kahn delivers a killing blow on him.
