A 19-year-old Ólafía Svanarsdóttir moves back to her tiny hometown for the summer, figuring that it would be the easiest way for her to live out a stress-free summer, work her ass off and hopefully catch up with her childhood friends. However, she didn't expect to be the tour guide for some mysterious singer for the whole summer. She goes to the airport to pick him up, and her first impression is that the mysterious stranger can't for the life of him pronounce her name right. How will the summer go? Will Ólafía get her normal, stress-free summer that she hoped for? Will sparks fly between them, or will he grow endlessly tired of her historical facts about the tiny town in Southern Iceland? It took me a long time to decide if I wanted to post this story or not but I decided that I should because mental health issues aren't talked about enough. Self harm and suicidal thoughts are things that should not be ignored. I have struggled with a lack of self confidence for the past few years and I recently stopped self harming which I am really proud of. I posted this story because I thought it was important for people to understand sort of what it's like to feel this way. I don't feel like I did a great job explaining it in the story but it was a hard topic for me to write about. This story was based off of my experiences with self harm and telling one of my friends. Remember that if you are self harming or having suicidal thoughts, get help.
