When you know each other for so long it's hard not to develop feelings. Feelings that will make you feel like you're floating on a cloud whenever you're with him. The way his voice sounds when he talks to you makes your knees go weak. When he kisses you the whole world pauses and it's just you and him. But when things start to break down, you don't know what to do with yourself. You don't know whether to put your love or your life first. Your mind is just completely foggy.

This is an alternate ending short story for my "Cross My Heart" story. You would need to read or at least start reading Cross My Heart first, to understand THIS story!! In "Cross My Heart", Gavin (Ed Sheeran) and Gwen are boyfriend/girlfriend after Gavin saves her from a life of captivity. But something happens.... This story starts at the moment in Cross My Heart, that Gavin is shot in the chest. Instead of him pulling through and surviving, as he does in that story, I've branched off and written this short story of what would happen to Gwen and Nate if Gavin died. How they each would mourn his death. How Gwen would get through the loss of the love of her life....her everything....her reason for breathing....her reason for being. How would she survive without him? Nate, Gavin's best friend in the world, and practically a brother to him, promised Gavin that he'd take care of Gwen throughout her life, before Gavin was going to die. He loved her already. He was in love with her, and Gavin knew this. Gavin approved of Nate's love for Gwen, and he knew she'd be in good hands with him. He also knew that she could learn to love Nate (as she already did, but on a deeper, real love scale) and knew they could be happy for the rest of their lives. He knew Nate would love her forever and give her a great life, along with Gavin's millions that would go to Gwen and him. That's all he wanted, before he died. He wanted to know that Gwen would be alright. Taken care of. Loved. Whether romantically, or as a friend to him....she'd make it, with the help of Nate. This story is how they both make it. Or not. Things are.....bad. Things are not going well for Gwen and Nate after Gavin dies.
