Padmé did not plan to die in childbirth, but apparently, she didn't get a say in the matter. Her heart might've been broken, but her spirit wasn't, and she was screaming on the inside and scratching at the walls of her fading mind as her life slipped away. She'd given Anakin her heart, but now that the man she loved was gone she'd have been more than happy to take it back and devote it to her children and justice for the galaxy. She'd have liked to make her husband see sense or leave him for good. Instead she died. But the force seemed to appreciate a true fighter and so Padmé awoke when she never expected to do so again. And was presented with the possibility to try and change or even completely prevent the dark times she witnessed last before becoming one with the force. She has to jump over her shadow, and it's a BIG shadow, but she'd rather be damned than let the possibility pass her by to grab the grand factor in the fate of the universe by his little neck and talk some sense into him before it is too late. And if it takes her years and she dies without knowing if she managed to succeed and never gets to return to her time and her children, so be it. He thinks on his feet, follows along with the action, never misses a beat. He's a soldier, he thinks logically, in battle strategies and calculations. He doesn't do...contemplating. Except it's the middle of the night on another godforsaken planet in the middle of this godforsaken war that is literally the only reason for the existence and death of his brothers, and one day himself, and he's not on patrol nor selected for any other nocturnal duty in their momentary camp. And so Rex is left contemplating because he cannot will himself to sleep. And it's not even because he'll hear the screams of his dying brothers again or because he feels like he owes them to stay awake and actively remember them. And so he sits and wonders. - Slaves of the Republic ______________________________________ No matter how much she longs for peace and quiet at the side of those she holds dear, she cannot go there yet. Her path is a different one. Not because fate or the force or a Master told her so, but because she wants it to be. She's still spiteful enough to fight, not resigned enough to pull back and be idle in the presence of tyranny, too young to step back and hear justice's call fade to silence. She follows it. And as much as she wants to walk after him, talk to him, go with him, peacefully and quietly - this is his place, however it got that way, and not her's. Knowing he's here, alive and safe is enough. Probably too much already. They'll never get that knowledge out of her, not over her cold dead body. It's better if she doesn't know why he's here, what he's doing or if he'll stay. She watches him leave, unsure if he noticed her, and then turns to follow her own path. Tatooine disappears from her view port not a day later as Fulcrum jumps into hyperspace on a new mission. - Different paths

As covered in "When You Leave", which saw a series of events leading Anakin Skywalker to be framed for bombing the Jedi temple, but later exonerated. In that story, Anakin chose to stay for Ahsoka and Obi-Wan. However, what if the force had placed him on a different path?

A collection of AUs where Vader learns about his kids earlier than he did in the canon timeline. This is a Vader character study. Each chapter is a different AU where Vader learns about one or both of the twins and his relation to them, long before when he discovered he is a father in canon. I may be returning to some of those AUs later to explore the consequences of Vader getting involved in his children's lives. Maybe. We'll see.
