Lizzie will also not be married or close to Tommy, as she will just be a worker.

It had been six months since the Shelby boys and the soldiers of Small Heath had returned. In their return, Polly had gained her nephews but lost a dear friend. Rose had left the very day the boys had arrived home. She had a family of her own and brothers to welcome back after years at war. Rose left, as many a dutiful woman did, to tend to her family but she hadn't left forever. Not more than two weeks ago, Polly had received one of many letters from the friend that was more like family and this one carried the positive news of Rose's return to Birmingham.

Meanwhile Scott still didn't go outside if he didn't have to. That was until his roommate came back from one of her book signings and suggested that he go on a blind that. Scott thought she just needed a story for a new book and he would be her guinea pig. So, he agreed. But oh boy he couldn't have guest more wrong. And suddenly he found himself back at Oakhurst from all those years ago.

Scott learns about the things he's missed, takes this new life and runs with it.
