Jane Watson has no money and nowhere to live. After finding her boyfriend of three years in bed with another woman, she had no choice but to move out of the Spring Street penthouse because it belonged to the lying, cheating bastard. On top of that, she just lost her part-time job at the coroner's office due to cutbacks and would rather live in a cardboard box next to a dumpster at school than ask her over-protective mother and police desk sergeant step-father to take her back in.
When she comes across a campus ad for a job-plus-lodging opportunity, she takes it down so no one else will see it and emails her CV and transcripts right away to the appropriate people. As it turns out, the Provost herself would be conducting the interview, since the position to be filled is for her cherished nephew.
How bad could it be? The nephew, who is also her best friend Meena's cousin, is some ultra-rich kid from England and basically needs help with everyday tasks and navigating Los Angeles because he has Asperger's or something. Meena warns her that the guy is certifiably a psycho despite his ridiculous, Byronic good looks.
But why does this job require a person with a medical background and expertise in self-defense? What exactly is Jane Watson walking into?
And why is she drawn to Sherlock Holmes despite his premium, prime-time dickishness and lack of self-awareness? Maybe she should have heeded Meena's advice, after all...
