Diciassette sono gli anni che portano con sé amori eterni e fragili come il cristallo, passioni arroventate che sfumano in fumo alla prima goccia di pioggia. Sono il desiderio di provare cose nuove e la consapevolezza di essere nel fiore di un'adolescenza che regala la propria parte migliore proprio quando è al culmine della sua fine. Diciotto è l'età che Shiho aveva e che non sente di avere, perché lei l'adolescenza non l'ha mai vissuta, e Ai Haibara rappresenta un'infanzia che le è stata strappata troppo presto per essere anche solo assaporata. È un'età che si è sorpresa a vivere nelle vesti di una bambina, con sensazioni suscitate da un ragazzo con il quale ha condiviso quell'amaro scherzo del destino. Di parole non dette e vuoti tra i passi, in una festività troppo frivola per entrambi.
