Somehow, they ended up on vacation together. After a disastrous outing, the members of the Armed Detective Agency find themselves on a luxury cruise. They think they're here on a mission, but Atsushi Nakajima knows the truth. This is all actually an elaborate scheme to get the stressed detectives to go on vacation. Sure, he has no idea what actually happened on said outing, but it's his job to make sure things go smoothly. A job that becomes cataclysmically more difficult when the Port Mafia is discovered to also be on board. Meanwhile, Akutagawa is ordered by Dazai to investigate a series of mysteries while keeping his own presence on the ship a secret. Things start going wrong however when a) his illness starts affecting him more than normal and b) *The stupid fucking weretiger spots him.* Suddenly working together, Atsushi and Akutagawa begrudgingly find themselves spending the trip side by side. Annoyingly in the same cabin, frustratingly way too close for comfort. In this AU, Hanahaki Disease is rare and poorly understood. When someone falls deeply in love but believes their feelings can never be returned, flowers begin to grow inside their lungs. At first, it's only an occasional cough and a few stray petals. Eventually, the flowers spread, making it harder and harder to breathe. Akutagawa is the last person anyone would expect to develop Hanahaki. He dismisses the first petals as a weakness. The second time, he burns them. By the third time, he realizes exactly what they mean. The problem is that the person he loves is Atsushi. Akutagawa refuses treatment. He refuses to tell anyone. Most importantly, he refuses to tell Atsushi. Meanwhile, Atsushi notices something is wrong. Akutagawa is missing missions, covering his mouth when he coughs, and growing more exhausted every day. Their rivalry has softened over the years, and despite Akutagawa's constant attempts to push him away, Atsushi can't ignore the fact that his partner is suffering. Convinced that Akutagawa is hiding an illness or injury, Atsushi begins investigating. The twist is that Hanahaki isn't caused by unrequited love in this universe. It's caused by believing your love is unrequited. And Akutagawa is wrong. Atsushi has been in love with him for months. Neither of them realizes the other feels the same way. Atsushi assumes Akutagawa dislikes him. Akutagawa assumes Atsushi could never see him as anything more than a former rival. As Akutagawa's condition worsens, Atsushi becomes increasingly desperate to find out what's happening. The story revolves around misunderstandings, awkward attempts at caring for each other, and both of them slowly learning to communicate.

Loving Atsushi was Akutagawa's only wish. But, loving Akutagawa was Atsushi's last wish. (This is my first time writing fanfic, if mistakes found, please don't flame me...I'm still learning.)

Atsushi Nakajima is the leader of the Port Mafia, a vicious organization that rules the streets of Yokohama. Ruthless on paper, Atsushi has gained quite the reputation. However, he does have a soft spot, and it begins to show when he meets a strange, coldhearted emo at the store. Or: A collection of awkward interactions between Atsushi and Akutagawa at the grocery store.

There was a time where Dazai and Chuuya had to go to Tokyo it was normal for them to go to big cities, but it wasn't normal for them to go alone. What happened between them in Tokyo, stays in Tokyo.
