There are people who are starved for touch, and then there are people who have spent so long being untouchable that touch becomes an event. Satoru belongs to the second kind. In my mind, this is less about physical hunger and more about emotional and existential deprivation. He has been praised as something divine for so long that human warmth would always feel like a rare and dangerous miracle. To be seen as a person after being seen as a god is its own kind of ache. That ache is part of what Utahime stirs in him.
