Desperately trying to cling onto the pieces of their old lives, they are sent by their loved ones to the other end of the world to become camp counselors for the summer. When Toni, pessimistic by nature meets Shelby, optimistic through and through; they can't seem to get over their hatred for each other. However, once they're forced to spend more time together it quickly becomes obvious that they are more alike than they'd care to admit. Will they learn to put their guards down long enough to get close? Or will the demons in their past get in the way.

The problem with that was that Toni hadn't dated since her break up almost four years ago and just told her friends she did to shut them up. So there was no way Toni could bring her girlfriend with her, right? Wrong. Toni didn't believe in miracles but when the ad of a fake partner website came up on her Instagram feed, she felt like she had to rethink that opinion. It couldn't be too difficult pretending to be in a relationship with someone you have just met, could it?

Toni moves to Texas after her last six foster home didn't quite work out. Now she's living in deep red texas, away from the one girl who she can call family. So yeah, life isn't going great for her. Until she meets Shelby in her new school. Shelby, the gorgeous, intelligent, perfect, blonde hair, green eye, popular....christian....homophobic girl... Okay so she's not perfect. And maybe she gets on Toni's nerves, and maybe Toni's very existence is against her beliefs. But sometimes luck is just on your side.

Pretty much a completely canon storyline - except for a few ~extended~ scenes ;)) - from the POV of both Shelby and Toni throughout the major beats of their relationship. I loved this pair and the original plot so much that I wanted to delve deeper into the emotions and subtexts of the original scenes to explore what the characters might have been really feeling. So here it is: The Wilds in book form. Enjoy!

this is a Shoni story and it picks up where season ONE left off. i got mad at season two and i think Shoni deserves more screen time so here i am. i do not own any of these characters!!

Toni wished for a never-ending OG pasta bowl before she could go back to her real life. Fatin desired to move to L.A. and become a digital influencer. Rachel Reid could still dream about making it to Stanford and the Olympics. Leah and Martha sought for connections while Shelby, Dot and Nora wanted purpose. But what would they really get after their time on the Island? How do they deal with learning that their losses were staged for unethical purposes? This story picks up immediately after the events of Season 2 with one major change: there are no boys on this (sorry, not sorry). This fic is my take on what Season 3 could have been. It initiates from Toni's perspective and, as the story unfolds, the scope broadens. There may be some overlapping with series such as "The L word", "The L Word Gen Q", and other LA-based series. English isn't my first language so there may be some mistakes here and there (I'll try my best to avoid them, though)
