Prompt from tumblr user S4mm4n Don't you just miss the days when you could walk up to a strangers farm and so for job, and then the man would show you around and you'd get to meet his son who his momma keeps telling that he needs a woman, and the boy would hold a lantern while showing you to your room and you'd both end up spending more time with each other than anybody would've thought?

A story about longing and heartbreak when a hoped-for love turns out to be impossible, teaching the narrator to let go.
