The poem tells the story of a little girl, who had a great bond with her older brother until he got married. After marriage, he couldn't give his little sister enough time. One day, as his little sister was fighting for her life in a hospital bed, he came running to see her. But she died before he got to her.

The poet is expressing that she would pain herself blue, as blue can both calm and serene like the sky, but can also be rage like the wild ocean waves. Metaphorically, this poem represents that there is both good, and bad, in all of us, and to embrace us for how we are, is a way to love, care and accept ourselves and the ones in our surroundings.

"A Letter To Loneliness" is a poem that expresses the thought of wanting to 'embrace' loneliness after being betrayed and hurt by other people. Thus, instead of trying to get rid of it, the poet decides to give loneliness a chance, to see how life would turn out in isolation. Though if what she found ultimately was peace, self reflection, emptiness, depression or solitude, is another question and is left to the reader's imagination.
