Charlotte Beckett is used to pressure. On the soccer field, she knows her role: make the pass, set up the play, keep her head down. But off the field, things are a lot messier - especially now that Walker McKinnon is back in her life. They used to be inseparable. Best friends. Maybe more, if things hadn't fallen apart. Now, after years of silence and everything left unsaid, he's suddenly everywhere - at her school, on the sidelines, in her way. And worse? He still knows how to get under her skin like no one else.

Cassidy Villegas and Darren Espanto were best friends ever since they were two years old. They literally did EVERYTHING together. They were inseparable. All of a sudden, Darren moves away from her to the Philippines. He never called, he never texted, he never e-mailed. They lost all contact. 3 years later, her so called best friend comes back. He realizes there's something different about her now. She shuts everybody out and there's no way of getting to her. She's no longer that friendly girl that she was three years ago. In other words, EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED

"All of this could have been avoided if you would just open up to someone!" Matt yells making me narrow my eyes. "Look, I know you think you're helping, but you are actually doing the precise opposite. I shut people out for a reason and you and the rest off them trying to get all close with just makes everything even worst than it has to be! I don't want you, I don't need you, I don't need anyone. Just leave me alone so you can spare what's left of your dignity." I yell grabbing my book-bag and checking that everything is still there. But as I try to walk away he grabs my arm and turns me to him. "Who did this to you, Carmen? Who hurt you so much emotionally and mentally that you've completely shut down anyone that tries to help you? You never talk about how you feel, you push kind people away and you gladly invite negative people in, and you refuse to open up and let someone love you or care about you. Who the hell did that to you?" I yank my arm from his grasp and walk toward the door, but at the last minute turn towards him and speak quickly and honestly. "This little thing called life did. Unlike you Jethro, I was forced to live it." With that I quickly open the door and walk out before the pinch in my throat and the burning behind my eyes make their promise of bringing tears.

This poem is about depression. Its like theres a demon inside me talking to me. I try to run from it and its darkness but theres no escape no matter how hard I try to hide from it. Depression isn't just being sad for like a day or two. It's a on going battle. And I go through this 'bout everyday.
