In 1954, the world was introduced to the punishment for mankind's mistakes, and nature's living death. Japan was mercilessly ravaged by this seemingly unstoppable creature's rampage, thousands of lives were lost, and the city of Tokyo was burned to the ground. It appeared as though this horrific, apocalyptic beast, now dubbed, "Gojira", would forever torment humanity until there was nothing left of them. That is however, until a brave scientist named, Daisuke Serizawa, came forward with a weapon that would end Gojira's reign of terror for good. This incredibly destructive weapon was named, the "Oxygen Destroyer". While the beast slept beneath the waves of Tokyo bay, Serizawa descended into the depths, soon encountering Gojira face to face. The scientist wasted no time in activating the Oxygen Destroyer, and, at the last second, cut the cord on his scuba gear. Serizawa went on to sacrifice himself with the monster, so that his horrific creation would never fall into the wrong hands. With his death, the people of Tokyo believed that they had seen the last of Gojira...
Until several decades later. In 1962, the world was once again introduced to nature's embodiment of death and destruction. This second Gojira possessed the same kind of rage and thirst for destruction that his ancestor did... Only those weren't his only attributes. This Gojira... This one was different. Instead of wishing to see the world burn beneath his feet, he wished to defend it as his home. Battles were fought, allies were made, and this Gojira came to be more anti-hero than death incarnate.
This is the story of how mankind's greatest mistake, eventually became its necessary evil.
