Wang Gyeong-ja had always been an easy target. She was quiet, studious, and so shy that she avoided any kind of conflict. She tried to stay out of everyone's way, hoping they would leave her alone, but to no success. Yeon Si-eun was similar. He liked to study and didn't talk much either.
But unlike Gyeong-ja, he wasn't scared to stand up for himself. He usually ignored other people's problems and kept his feelings to himself. Over time, though, he began to notice how much Gyeong-ja struggled. The way she tried to disappear, the way she silently endured everything, bothered him.
Slowly, Si-eun felt something unfamiliar: sympathy. He actually felt sorry for Gyeong-ja, and it made him realize he might not be as emotionless as he thought.
