Happiness was this nebulous, dreamlike thing that Simon wasn't as familiar with as he could be. It was something he could see out of the corner of his eye, could reach out and grab if only he didn't blink it away within the next breath, but that elusiveness didn't stop him from wanting it. From wanting it for Markus more than anyone. In order to ensure Markus got just that, for a whole week he conspired with Carl and Leo Manfred to give Markus the surprise of his life, and hoped that, in the end, it brought Markus the joy he so deserves.
