Elixxa Smithson has the cliche fairy tale step-family and the abuse and torture that comes with it. She becomes resistant to all emotion at a young age because of a tragedy that made her mother disappear, after which her father remarried to an awful woman who hates Elixxa, but her good looks and lies cover that up. Elixxa, being the reckless, emotionless teen she is, got herself thrown out of the fantasy world called FallCharm and banished to the mortal land called America, where maybe, just maybe, her newly found emotion can do a little bit of good.
