After The Empire Strikes Back, Luke joins his father, Darth Vader, and embraces the dark side. Luke has begun his descent into evil, while Leia reconciles with the loss of him. Meanwhile, on Dathomir, the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, makes a deal with a Nightsister called Merin but doesn't know what it will truly entail. She wanted her master back, but she never specified in what way; thus, Darth Vader and Leia have now switched bodies. What now?

A simple mission during the Clone Wars becomes complicated when Ahsoka runs into a young version of her master and grandmaster. Except, this other Obi-Wan has yellow eyes, and he looks as if he'll murder anyone who dares look at his young charge wrong. Where did they come from? Why are they here? A Jedi should never be forced to fall, but instead guided to ignite them to slander vaguely downwards. Let their anger boil beneath their skin. Leave revenge snapping in their brain. It's been nine years since the formation of the Empire, and on a mission gone wrong, Vader and Ahsoka find themselves trapped. Prisoners of the Empire, their fate remains uncertain. Their only hope is that Custos, Obi-Wan, and Anakin will be able to find them before it's too late. But Sidious has long been waiting for this moment, and he has no intention of letting Vader go.

Anakin refuses to leave his mother behind in slavery if she'll never be freed. Qui-Gon never comes back, but Obi-Wan does. When he does, he's... different. Darker. Fallen. Even so, he carries through with his unspoken promise to train Anakin, though the boy will never become a Jedi. Perhaps that means Anakin will be able to fulfill his childhood dream of freeing the slaves.

Being kidnapped by the Sith apprentice who killed Qui-Gon is the last thing Anakin expected to happen while on his first mission with his new Jedi master, Maul. Obi-Wan is... scary. And dark, which duh, he's a Sith. But Anakin is determined to escape him and find his way back to the Jedi, no matter the cost. It's never quite that easy.
